CONGRATULATIONS, THE BRACES ARE OFF! WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

Below is a list of ideas and suggestions to aid you in the success of your orthodontic treatment. Good Luck, I know you will do great!

That’s right, we want you to go back to your dentist and show him/her and the hygienist just how perfect your smile is. Be sure to see your Dentist regularly, that means every six (6) months for a check-up and a cleaning.

Teeth are not embedded in cement, but bone, which continually reshapes throughout life. Retainers minimize but do not totally eliminate unwanted tooth movement. The best way to ensure that your smile is as perfect tomorrow as it is today is by wearing your retainers faithfully. Be sure to wear them every night unless instructed differently by us!

Our motto is…”If it’s not in your face, it’s in your case!”
1. Clean once daily with liquid soap and a q-tip for clear retainers.
2. For stronger cleaning, place the retainer in a glass with Retainer Brite (provided at first retainer visit).
3. Keep away from extreme heat or cold.
4. Never boil the retainer or wash it in very hot water, as this may cause it to not fit correctly.
5. Keep it away from pets to avoid the retainer from getting chewed up and needing to be replaced.

If Dr. Benton and Dr. Barry placed permanent retainers on the back of your front teeth the day we removed your braces they are convenient and a great asset to you! Taking great care of the permanent retainer is really simple but very important! Failure to properly clean or floss around your retainer may lead to cavities or gum disease. You can have gum and other candies but be sure to use your back teeth for chewing. Please continue to cut your corn off the cob and quarter your apples. Dr. Benton says to treat your front teeth as if they are made of glass. The cost of the first set is also included in the cost of your treatment, but if they have to be repaired or replaced there will be an additional charge.

If your retainers are lost, broken, or do not fit properly, call our office IMMEDIATELY. The first set of retainers you receive are included in the cost of your treatment. However, if your retainer is lost or broken there will be a charge to repair or replace it.

Because we are so committed to giving you an amazing, healthy smile that will last a lifetime, we offer a Lifetime Retainer program. This program helps to keep you from ever needing to replace retainers at full price.

Because you are going to want everyone to see your new smile, we have a partnership with Brooklyn Payne Photography. At your removal we will give you a card with a scannable QR code or visit our website to schedule your photography appointment!

You are going to be showing off your new smile to your friends and they are going to ask a lot of questions. It’s a great time to give them a card and invite them to experience a Designer Smile. The card will entitle them to a free exam…it’s a gift that will last a lifetime. Be sure to tell the visitor to bring the card with them to their visit, to enter yourself in the prize drawing!

Here at Designer Smiles by Benton, we stand by our work. Once you complete treatment with us, your smile is 100% guaranteed - for life!
